One Monday afternoon,
straight after lunch, the Pukeko Team lined up... none of us knew what we were
doing. Ms McKendry was dressed up in winter clothes and so was Mrs Cider. Mrs
Coster was dressed in Hawaiian clothes; she had flowers around her neck!
We looked
around, inside all the Pukeko Team rooms... we went to Ngaio and it was all
about some of the hottest places in the world. Some places looked pretty hot,
like Moon Valley and Death Valley. It was sweating hot in there, it was 30
degrees! We watched a little video clip;
it was about the equator. In some place no green plants grew, but there is
still water and some flamingos living there.
Next we
went to the cold room, Rimu, with Mrs Cider. We talked about the coldest
places. There were questions and computers and a video about snowboarders and
animals that live in the cold. Also, they had stacked up the chairs and put
white blankets over them, so they looked like icebergs. There was paper and
vivids to write winter weather words, and I wrote blizzard.
After that
we went to Ti Kouka, we talked about wind. It was very windy! We watched a
video of some bad weather. There were floods and bad happenings. I wouldn’t
like to live in that kind of weather. We
had pieces of paper with pictures and sticky notes. We had to write our ideas
about what weather is and how it happens. We had turns in front of the
industrial fan. It was really fun!
