And it focused the sunlight to a point.

When the light came through the lens and reflected off the metal sheet...

It was powerful enough to set a stick on fire!

Many of them are from telescopes.

We look funny through these as well!

This is a magnifying lens beamed through the television.

We looked closely at skin...

We all look pretty weird this close up!

In Ngaio Community, we are learning about chemical reactions that cause fizzing and foaming. Today we watched these videos that show some awesome chemical reactions that we can't do at home!

Activities for @ home

We have made the decision to put the Science and Maths Badges on hold this year, due to increasing lack of commitment by many participants, and will revisit these next year.  We have also considered the value of the sharing time and the ‘buy-in’ from all Pukeko students.  However, you can access interesting websites for your children on our team blog.

Pukeko Team Maths and Science presentations Round #2

Today, Wednesday 27 June, we held our second session of maths and science presentations. Afterwards, Mrs O’B said, “Many children are making an outstanding effort in their presentations.”  Mr D said, “The standard of presentations was very high.”  Mrs Johnston said, “I was amazed at the information that the children had gathered.”

Mrs Jackson, Mrs McHarg and Mrs Busch also came and looked for a while. Mrs McHarg said, “I was very impressed with the quality of the work done and the children’s presentations. It was lovely to see some parents along also.”

There will be more presentation sessions next term, so keep up the great work, Pukekos!
