Our brain

We had our second visit to Harold today, boy did we learn a lot about our brain! 

What did you learn about the brain? Can you remember what the different parts felt like? Do you remember if you use your left or rightside of your brain more?

Thomas is holding the Cerebellum (say sair-uh-BELL-um)

Cerebellum is located at the back of our brain.  Can you feel a little knob that's at the base of your head? That's where it is located. This controls our movement, giving us our balance and controls our muscles so we don't drop the rugby ball.

Niko is holding the hypothalamus 

Our hypothalamus controls our temperature and tells us when we are too hot or too cold.  It's found right in the middle of our brain (this explains why Mrs P is always cold!)

Chase is holding the Cerebrum (say such-REE-brum)

The biggest part of our brain is called the Cerebrum, this is like our very own computer, it controls our thinking. This is where our memories are kept as well.
