Let the battle begin!

Our Physical Activity Leaders (PALs) help organise, promote and ref games for us to play at long plays on Wednesdays. The latest activity was Battle of the Whanau. There was egg and spoon, sack races and the final leg was a 3 legged race. Here are some snap shots of the Year 1-4 races. Rob the nest hockey style

As part of interchange children have been learning how to strike (hit) with a stick. 

Hockey is a relatively new skill to most of the Pukeko children. 

Children were checking their buddies were using correct grip, making eye contact and stepping forward to push the ball to their partner.  Peer assessment is a great tool to help remind  the 'assessor' what they need to do. 

I'm a big believer in using games to help reinforce skills that have been taught. Also asking children how modifying games can make it easier or harder.

Conquering the non dominant hand!

As an introduction to PE interchange this term we have been learning that using your non dominant hand for catching and throwing isn't as easy as it sounds. 

Some of us were challenged, but as our school value for this term is resilience many children were showing this in abundance along with perseverance. 

  

Did you say Moo?

Our art work from interchange is finally completed and they look stunning! 

Using collaging as our medium the children drew a farm animals face. Demonstrating lines, texture and shape , which are elements of art.

Pukeko Presents on Friday 7 June

ren from LC9. Lots of children shared their great Autumn poems. Some awesome children received Pukeko team awards and it was great to see that lots of them were for a respectful attitude and great manners - way to go, Pukekos!!!

Our door is fixed!

Our art interchange had a strange interruption that we couldn't resist asking questions to the workers. 

The men were using a gas torch to remelt the harden glue. The bubbles on the door was trapped gas caused by the glue. 

Now it's smooth and looks great. 

Drawing farm animals

Brooke is proud of her pig drawing because she saw some fur on the pig and she used shading. 

Jorja likes her horse shape and size. 

Dwight is proud of his goats eyes and ears because they look realistic. 

Isla likes her foal because she practiced how to draw the ears. 

It was Isabella's first time drawing a fawn and she is proud of her very cute fawns ears.
