Family treasures
In LC1 during literacy, we have been talking and writing about our family treasures and why and how these treasures help us to remember and record our past.
Learners chose an amazing range of different treasures, including ancient artefacts, precious photos, old records, mini irons and clogs! We are sharing our ideas in a report about our treasure on Google Drive.

Check out our Whare!
The LC18 Swamp has had a facelift with our Term 4 artwork and West Melton Kowhaiwhai patterns. We think it looks fantastic and really showcases our learners' artistic talents.

CATERPILLAR RUN!
On Friday afternoon the Rimu girls faced the 'Caterpillar Run' challenge. In teams of 8(ish) they worked together to get their strip of paper from one end of the sprint lanes to the other. Each team had 4 metres of paper, a pair of scissors and a stapler - the only rules were to stay on the paper and to staple it back into 'one piece' once all team members had crossed the line. They had to use their creative, communication and collaboration skills to succeed. Ka pai kids - great effort!

What's happening in Ngaio???
The end of last term was an awesome finish to our plays. The children had practised very hard and we were impressed with how many children managed to remember all their lines. The classroom was packed with Grandparents, I'm just glad there was no fire alarm.
Science held great interest for the children last term and special thanks to Liz and Natasha for making things happen while I was busy with Alim. Thanks

Measurement Made Fun
Towards the end of last term the Ngaio Community looked at measurement for maths. One of the activities was to make their own set of working scales. I think the children did an awesome job. What do you think?

GRANDPARENT'S DAY
Thank You to every Nanna, Poppa, Grandma, Grandpa, Oma, Opa, Kui and Koro that came to visit from near or far for Grandparent's Day - it was an absolutely amazing turn-out and I do believe our school roll doubled for the afternoon session. Some of you came from across the road and some came from across the globe (true story - Grandparents from the UK!) to celebrate our learners!
After a picnic lunch (and coffee for the adults) LC18 welcomed their grandparent's into our Pukeko break-out space 'the Swamp' to cut, glue, saw, hammer, and nail together some exquisite bird habitats. As luck would have it, we had some talented carpentry granddads on hand to show us how it's done...
